Marissa is now 7 months!

Marissa is now over 7 months old. She has taken possession of Evan's highchair. We washed and thoroughly cleaned it for her to use. Evan has so graciously relinquished the use of his highchair and he eats at his table in his room or at the dining table. Hooray for Evan!


We have also lowered the baby cot. Marissa can stand supported in there. She absolutely loves her bathtime and would cry whenever it's over. She wakes up more often now - up to 4 times a night sometimes!

She can almost crawl forward by lifting her butt upwards. Currently she crawls or moves everywhere except forwards.... She eating well. We still blend her porridge but less so she can learn to chew her food.

Settled In

Evan has more or less settled in to his new school. He looks forward to school everyday. However on thursday morning he complained that his right eye was 'spoiled' before going to school. So I checked and found nothing abnormal. After school, his eye became crusted and inflamed. Larry was not well at the same time - had a serious throat infection. So both of them sought medical attention at Medicare Midvalley. Evan is now much better but I've decided to let him skip school today instead to rest and take his medication (antibiotics - erythromycin and anti-histamine). Larry is also on medical leave to recuperate.

On a much lighter note..... this photo was taken at Midvalley Megamall. Chinese New Year is just around the corner!

3rd day @ TJC

Yesterday (Wednesday) was the 3rd day Evan attended his 'new school' (as he likes to call it).

He seems to be settling well into Tadika Juara Cerdik (juaracerdik.blogspot.com).

I dropped him by car at the kindie entrance & drove off after a teacher led him in.

When class ended, I picked him up at the entrance by car & he was pretty cool with it all.

During the class, I sneaked in a couple of times to see how he was.

When he saw me in class, he flashed a wide grin and called out to me.

After offering me a toy cabbage to eat, he happily rejoined his friends and continued playing.

So far, he has behaved admirably throughout.

It was only during the singing and doing the actions during the songs, that he was unwilling to sing and act along.

He does know some of the songs - somehow he just doesn't want to sing and participate.

The first week in TJC is mostly playing and singing and simple activities to ease the kids into the kindie.

The kids should start to hit the books next week :)

Eagle-eyed readers will notice the kids were not wearing any uniforms in the pictures. The new students will not be wearing their uniforms in the 1st two weeks in kindie.

2 main reasons for this: a more progressive assimilation for kids attending kindie for the first time; & so that the teachers can easily tell apart the new students when the returning students returns the next week.

Parents are allowed to accompanied their kids into the kindie for the 1st 3 days. So Daddy brought Evan to TJC on Mon & Wed, while it was Mommy's turn on Tues.

For the first week, classes were only from 8.30am-10.30am. Regular sessions are from 8.30am to 11.45am.

Most kids were seen to be enjoying themselves in the new environment - new friends, new teacher, new toys and new routines.

Understandably, some young 'uns weren't too thrilled to be in a unfamiliar place with unfamiliar faces.

Back to School - NEW school!

Evan has been really excited about going to his 'new' school. Larry accompanied him to Tadika Juara Cerdik on the very first day. Evan is enrolled in Jasmine class.... together with a dozen over other 4-year-olds (including Joseph). The number of boys in his class is more than double the girls.














Toys! Evan had no problems with the playtime - thoroughly enjoyed himself. Next up, the kids had to queue 'choo choo train' style to the washrooms to 'wash your hands before you eat'.








Most kids brought snacks from home but Evan's tupperware sandwich keeper was empty. His teachers promptly filled it with honey stars and cornflake cookies. Rest time was next and everyone had to fold their arms and rest quietly.
Assembly was next and the kids had a sing-a-long and dance session. Evan didnt want to do any of the actions but instead just observed his friends. After that school was dismissed.




I brought Evan to TJC on the second day. He was rather tired I guess having woken up much earlier than usual. He was OK but didn't really wanted to participate in the activities although he was prompted to by his teachers. One of his teachers even asked me whether Evan is a shy boy. Well.... he is totally the opposite! This pic was taken on the second day. Hopefully things will turn out better on the third day......
