Aquaria KLCC

Larry brought the kids to Aquaria KLCC on Sunday. RM50 total for the entrance fees. I didn't go in together with them - instead I went shopping on my own at Kinokuniya, Isetan & Parkson! Well, I was there before with Larry and baby Evan back in 2005.

Evan staring at the Araipaima. He quite enjoyed himself there watching the various sea animals (crocs & turtles included).

"Smile! I have clean teeth! The shark has dirty teeth!"

Larry told me that Aquaria also has insects on exhibit. These were the dead ones though. Evan was intrigued by the live tarantula. After an hour plus, they left Aquaria and we met up at KLCC's very user-friendly baby changing room. Marissa got her fix and then it's dinner at KLCC's food court.

6th Wedding Anniversary

21st June 2009 - 6th Wedding Anniversary (also Father's Day this year). We didn't have any grand celebration this time. Just a simple dinner at Fish & Co, Bangsar Village and for dessert : 6 vanilla cupcakes complimentary from Marmalade Cafe, Bangsar Village II.

When the kids came along, wedding anniversaries were celebrated on a much smaller scale.
For our 1st anniversary, we went to Cyberview Resort for a holiday (it was just the 2 of us then!).
For our 2nd, we were supposed to go to Tanjong Jara Resort (having booked the holiday in March '05).... then I had some complication with my pregnancy with Evan. So the holiday was cancelled and we spent the actual day 21st June 2005 touring the labour room and other facilities together with Datuk Prof Raman (my O&G then) at Pantai Hospital.

3rd anniversary - can't remember what we did but definitely went out for a dinner or something! 4th anniversary : we had a fantastic time in London, Paris & Germany. And 5th anniversary last year, we went to Mandarin Oriental for Dim Sum breakfast. Looking forward to another challenging year together with hubby! Here's to our 6th anniversary!

MMR Jab & PT Day

We brought Marissa to the paed for her MMR jab - a few days after her first birthday. She weighs 8kg now (exactly what I had predicted) and is within the average weight and height. Only her head size is above average - based on the chart for breastfed babies (formula-fed ones have a different chart). She is still reluctant to walk but prefers crawling and climbing everywhere. She has added a few more words to her babbling speech : banana (which she pronounces as na-na-NAH), papaya (papa-pah), bear, mamama (not sure whether she meant me or just babbling) and even something like dadada. She understands what we tell her or ask her to do eg give the toy, read book, sit down, come down, etc

Parents-Teachers Day at TJC on saturday morning. Larry & I went there early so that we can go to work after meeting Teacher Esther. We were parents no.2! no waiting and everything was settled within 15min. We were shown the exam papers, progress report book and some of his schoolwork.

Evan scored full marks for his numbers paper (surprisingly!), 96% for Chinese and 88% for English - looks like his Chinese is much better than English! For Chinese, he left out or overlooked one of the matching questions (must be too many lines criss-crossing that he didnt see it). Same thing for English - left out one of the boxes that he was supposed to match. I didn't know that he was supposed to recognize the 'color' words so I didnt revise it with him at all so he was 'guided' for that section but still made a few mistakes.

Writing - C (which is a great improvement from not being able to write at all to writing - albeit not so nice cos out of the lines but recognizable numbers/letters and chinese strokes).

Teacher Esther commented that he loves art and craft sessions and would pay full attention but when it's lesson time, he likes to day dream or disturb his friends. Anyway, I am satisfied with Evan's progress and hope that he will participate more actively in Super Fun Time as he is only interested in running around and not actively participating!

First Birthday Fun

Marissa turned one today - 16th June 2009. We had an early birthday celebration on 14th June Sunday at Marmalade Cafe Bangsar Village II. It was a buffet dinner attended by about 50 guests including kids/babies. The theme was Hello Kitty - well - as Kitty is cute (and although she has no mouth - she speaks through her heart! ).

Photographed the party packs before giving them away at the party : 2 different treat bag designs with the following contents : Sunview raisins, stickers, spinning top, pinball game, wooly ball, magnet, perfumed tissue pack, mini sauce container & activity sheet. I also bought party decor like banner, lanterns & hanging decor from ebay USA. I got Balloons Bouquet (Bangsar) to blow up 12 helium Hello Kitty balloons and they delivered them to the cafe. Uncle Billy the Clown/Magician was at hand to entertain the little ones with his Cookie Monster puppet & magic tricks/illusions.

Marissa received a whole lot of gifts and 'lucky money'. She has a new wardrobe, 3 musical instruments and a few other toys plus ikan bilis! from Langkawi - thanks to Justine! I thought she would receive dolls or kitchen toys or tea sets or other 'girly' stuff but none at all! Surprisingly - all unisex toys! Will post more photos after Grace has completed editing them - can't wait for all the photos!

Happy Birthday little princess! All glory to God for a wonderful celebration and first year!

Walking Talking

"How do I look with a headband?"
Marissa is close to one year old and we will be celebrating with a party & photo shoot this coming Sunday.
Marissa can walk a few steps unaided but generally she still prefers crawling. She can say a few words already. Her first word being 'Cat'. Other words include 'bear', 'egg' and 'cheese'. Hmmmm but not Mommy or Daddy.
She's pretty good with pencils and can scribble on paper or even the magnetic board.

Just a pic of Marissa wearing an Elmo backpack. When she wore this, her brother said that she's going to school!

Color coordinated clothes for Photo Shoot!

We will be having a family photo portraiture shoot with Grace from Integricity Visuals. She suggested that we color coordinate our outfits so that we will look united as a family. So I guess it's time for some shopping!

The above dress is a Gymboree Vintage Fancy Dress in 12-18mos for Marissa. It's a lovely soft velour dress with embroidered rose stems at the hem and a cute bow in front. I actually bought it second hand off ebay USA. It still looks as good as new and in excellent condition! I also bought my little princess a pair of new shoes from Metrojaya. They are made from soft leather and are super comfy. Marissa also has a new pink hairband featuring Hello Kitty!

I bought myself a new pink polo tee with ruffles at the front from P&Co (Padini). Larry got himself a new pink polo tee from Factory Outlet plus a cool new pair of light khaki Dockers Mobile Pants (his favourite style). Hubby's waistline has expanded thus new pants were absolutely necessary!

Evan already has a pink polo tee from Hallmark, so I just bought him a new pair of light khaki pants from Renoma Junior (Metrojaya).
I've also asked my parents who are joining in the photo session to dress in pink too! I hope the photo shoot will turn out picture perfect!
