HK Disneyland Park TOP TEN

Read all about my family's trip to HK Disneyland. Click on menu bar above to see all blog posts!

Ok - this is the last post about HK Disneyland.... I am sure all of you had enough!
Top 10 experiences at HK Disneyland Park! In random order!

1) Mickey Ears
Get your own Mickey Ears or Mickey Hat or Mickey Cap and wear it at the park!
I bought 2 hats for the kids. Free custom embroidery. They wore it to Chef Mickey for buffet breakfast.

2) Stitch Encounter
This was at Tomorrowland. We went for the English show and it was a great experience having Stitch 'talk' and interact with selected people from the audience. Entertaining and funny!

3) Festival of the Lion King
Do not ever miss this! A live musical of the retelling of Simba's story. It was indeed a breath-taking performance by a super talented cast. Too bad we managed to watch this only once.

4) Royal Banquet Hall
Very beautiful eatery located in Fantasyland. Serves Mickey Pizza and other yummy foods in an enchanting fairy-tale setting. Loved the stain glass windows! We were there for lunch and this is where Mickey Pizza is served.

5) Balloon Twister
His territory is Fantasyland. Queue up and choose your balloons! He can twist Mickey Ears, Pooh Bear, Buzz Lightyear gun and more!

6) It's a Small World
Take a nice relaxing journey on a rowboat in It's A Small World. We did this 3 times! For the first two rides we took photos of all the dolls and for the last ride, we just relaxed and took in all the sights and sounds. After the ride, watch out for the clock chime : like a cuckoo clock, a door would open and dolls will dance around. Remember to visit the Ice Cream parlour too for yummylicious ice cream cones or ice cream pancakes.

7) Watch the Parade
Bought Evan popcorn to snack on while waiting for the parade to start.

8) Face Painting
Available at Fantasyland for HKD$80 (Evan got a complimentary face painting voucher).  Everyone STARED at him and he didn't like it after awhile. After a few rides in Fanstasyland, Larry brought him to the toilet and washed the face paint away. I thought he was such a handsome little version of Jack Sparrow from Pirates of the Caribbean

9)Fireworks
Need I say more? 7:30pm nightly - don't miss it!

10) Merlin the Magician
Watched his performance right in front of Cinderella's Carousel. Highly entertaining! There isn't a fixed time for the performance so keep your eyes and ears open to spot Merlin. Evan tried pulling out Excalibur with all his might.

Disney on Parade

Read all about my family's trip to HK Disneyland. Click on menu bar above to see all blog posts!
Another highlight at Hong Kong Disneyland Park is the daily parade which starts at 3:30pm.  We watched the parade twice. On one of the days we skipped it to go on the rides and it was such a breeze cos there wasn't a queue as most people were busy taking photos of the parade. It was shorter compared to the one at Eurodisney but enjoyable nonetheless

Balloons, snacks and popcorn vendor - selling their wares just before the start of the parade. Brisk sales I would say. Good thing Evan and Marissa didn't ask for any of the balloons though I would say they were quite nice. There was one type of balloon that had a switch to light it up and the colors will glow and change.

Watch out! The flowers squirt water!

 ,.

Best to take photos standing up instead of sitting down. Get ready 15 minutes before the start of the parade - go scout for a shady place to sit down and wait. Best place is at the front of the Corner Cafe on Main Street USA.

The are special parades during Halloween, Christmas & Chinese New Year.

When not in Disneyland.....

.....it was Toys 'R' Us at Harbour City! Impressively huge store there. They sell Playmobil toys at reasonable prices.

LEGO toys galore with the brick table for kids to build. Very well decorated with Lego scenery of Hong Kong in glass cabinets. The kids played and played and played there while I browsed the store. There was a Hello Kitty mini shop in Toys 'R' Us but way tooooo expensive.

When hunger pangs set in..... we dropped by Pizza Hut. The restaurant looks classier and more refined compared to our local Pizza Hut chain restaurant. Menu was also different and pricier but food was tasty.

Another toy shop at Harbour City. There's a dedicated children's floor with lots of boutiques, bookstore, toy shop and food outlets. For a place this big, there was only one nursing room.... and parents had to queue up to use it. *Frown*

Had early dinner at Jade Garden Restaurant located outside the mall complex. Wantan mee & dim sum. Evan fell asleep at the table due to exhaustion. Can't blame him..... we were out the whole day walking!

Red junk at Victoria Harbour, Tsim Sha Tsui (TST). Photographed this from the window of the Jade Garden Restaurant while Evan took his nap.

Night view of the Hong Kong waterfront at Victoria Harbour. All the buildings and skyscrapers were lighted up. After all the photo taking, we left TST and headed back to the hotel.

On another day, we ventured to Causeway Bay. Spotted McDonald's and we went there for a snack. We purchased a Happy Meal - it came with a box of milk among other things..... oh and a toy of course..... an ambulance robot (transformers)

Times Square Causeway Bay - nothing very interesting. We dined at the food court.

Double decker buses in Hong Kong. Didn't ride on any though. We used the MTR.
Evan didn't enjoyed all this walking around and he pleaded to 'go back to the room'. So we went back to Disneyland. Anyway, didn't do any shopping as things were expensive. Sogo had their anniversary sale but nothing great. They have a great selection of Hello Kitty items but too expensive.

So when visiting Hong Kong Disneyland with kids...... just stay, play and eat there.

Mickey Food at Hong Kong Disneyland Resort

Read all about my family's trip to HK Disneyland. Click on menu bar above to see all blog posts!

From Crystal Lotus restaurant (HK Disneyland Hotel): Mickey Dim Sum. This was very very tasty. The kids ate a lot of this.

This is from Chef Mickey (Disney's Hollywoood Hotel). There's a Mickey waffle in the photo. They also serve soup with Disney character pasta inside.

Enchanted Garden (HK Disneyland Hotel) has this Mickey pancake.

Mickey chocolate ice cream stick sold at the park at various locations. There's also jelly and pudding in plastic Mickey-shaped containers.

Mickey Pizza at Royal Banquet Hall (Fantasyland). Quite delicious!

At all the restaurants at the hotels & park, kids get their own special plate, bowl, cup & cutlery - all with Mickey & Minnie. They also have specially designed highchairs for the younger ones.

This one is from Enchanted Garden - the highchair matches the rest of the furniture in the restaurant.

Overall, food was expensive. Mineral water was also expensive - HKD$12 for a bottle of 500ml. The hotels also gave 2 bottles of water complimentary everyday but it's obviously not enough. So, a big portion of our expenses were incurred to fill our tummies! Now that my pants are tighter, I need to diet!
