Travel gear for Hong Kong Disneyland Trip

Read all about my family's trip to HK Disneyland. Click on menu bar above to see all blog posts!

Really looking forward to our upcoming holiday!

Splurged on some cool stuff for this trip.....

First up: Tipu the Tiger Trunki for Evan as a hand luggage. He can sit on top of the bag and push himself on the wheels all around the airport. There's also a strap for one of us to pull him along. Not sure how handy this will be but at least there's something that he can sit on while lining up! We plan to stuff his backpack inside the trunki plus some new toys to occupy the kids while flying.

Next up, a brand new camera! Fujifilm F70 EXR

I like this one but still haven't practised enough using it so photos still don't look so nice. Of course, the easy way is to just use AUTO mode. Will bring along the old Canon one as well - still working OK after 2 years.

We will also bring along the Hipseat - something I bought about a year plus ago from the UK. It will be very convenient for Marissa to sit on especially when we queue up while waiting for the rides at Disneyland!

On another note, I just found out that there are amendments to the benefits for Disneyland Annual Pass holders. We get to enjoy 35% discount off hotel room rates instead of the previous 15%. Even with discount, we are spending about RM420 per room per night. No breakfast included. We will see whether it's worth it or not very soon

LarryBoy Veggie Tales

This is Evan's current favourite character - LarryBoy from Veggie Tales! He's actually Larry the Cucumber's alter ego. He wears a belt with his initials : LB and a hat with super plunger ears. He's the superhero that the veggie citizens of Bumblyburg depend on to rescue them from danger. Larry-Boy is sort of modelled after Batman and just like Batman, LarryBoy has a butler - Alfred (Archibald Asparagus) and a super cool car: the Larry-mobile. His favourite food is chocolate and pizza.

Each Veggie Tales episode contains one or two biblical stories or stories and also the bible verse of the day. There is also a music video segment : Silly Songs with Larry. Bob the Tomato and Larry the Cucumber are the hosts for each episode. Evan's favourite episodes are Lyle the Kindly Viking (Sharing), LarryBoy and the Bad Apple (Overcoming Temptation) and LarryBoy and the Fib from Outer Space (Telling the Truth).

H1N1 & RM1

Evan went to school on Monday as usual but was sent home because of a confirmed H1N1 case in his class. He is required to be absent from school for one week. Seems like the H1N1 case was detected on Friday. Anyway, Evan is quite happy to be at home - we are also less stressed - no need to rush in the mornings to get to school. My mom came up to stay with us for a short holiday and will be going back on Monday when Evan goes back to school.

Today - Evan woke up extra early by himself. Wished everyone good morning and promptly ate his breakfast without any fuss. No one hurried him or nagged him to eat fast. All accomplished by 7:40am!
If everyday like this..... very senang.

Oh and last night, we brought my mom out for makan at Gardens Canton-i. They are currently having a RM1 chicken promotion. We first went there for Dim Sum but it wasn't that good so we've not stepped into that restaurant for a very long time already.
This time, we ordered dishes and rice. The RM1 chicken is SUPERB! Too bad no photos - forgot to bring along.....
Oh back to the chicken.... it was a whole chicken - very tender - and roasted to perfection! The chilli sauce also tastes great!
We also ordered 2 other vege dishes : baby french beans stir fried with crispy ikan bilis and something.... it was a huge portion - good for 5 or 6 adults. Marissa loved the sauce that accompanied the dish. Then we also had eggplants (huge serving) with minced meat in a sweet tomoto-ish sauce. Good as well. 3 bowls of rice and 2 cups of Pu-Er tea and 1 glass of warm water. Everything added up to RM55.00. Very sumptious meal and we wouldn't mind going there again soon to savour the RM1 chicken again!

The promotion is ongoing - no 'expiry' - don't know when they will stop it. If 4 pax, RM1 is for a whole chicken. 2-3pax, will get half chicken. Only for dine-in from 6pm-9pm.
