Evan's a Cowboy

Howdy, partner! It's a Wild Wild West party at Evan's kindy today!
Easy-peasy kacang putih no preparation needed & no extra money spent on his costume this time.....

I bought Evan a cowboy costume from ELC a year or two ago and it was quite big (size 3-6) then but now he fits very well into it. The costume doesn't come with a hat but I managed to buy one from Gymboree when they released their Halloween costumes in 2008. Socks also got - from Gymboree too - purchased at the same time. Unfortunately no cowboy boots. He wore the costume for play a few times but since it was too big, we just stashed it in the wardrobe. I even bought a wooden hobby horse for him from ELC when it was on 50% off!

So this morning, he wore a Gymboree long-sleeve shirt, pants & underwear too! underneath his ELC cowboy costume.

I drew a moustache and thickened his eyebrows with a tube of expired mascara that was lying in my drawer! I hope it doesn't smudge!

Government Primary School Education

This is the Ministry of Education's 'Official Portal'..... http://www.moe.gov.my
Larry went there to get a list of primary schools in Selangor/KL.

The website was indeed very user-unfriendly..... Larry couldn't find the directory of primary schools so he called the hotline and was given some steps to find it.

So..... if you want a list or directory of primary/secondary schools in Malaysia, just follow this link :

Once there, scroll down to find this :

Just click on SR or SM of the state to download the full list of schools complete with address, postcode, telephone number, fax number, total enrolment, breakdown of enrolment according to gender & number of teaching staff.

Different schools will have different schedules for primary 1 registration. So, just enquire at the school to see when the registration for primary 1 is open.

Looking at the list that Larry downloaded and printed out, a few schools are  nearby :
1) SK Bangsar
Co-Ed, Morning & Afternoon sessions
2025 students & 106 teachers
2) SK Bukit Pantai
Co-Ed, Morning session
886 students & 64 teachers

There are 2 others also quite nearby....
3) SK La Salle PJ
Boys school
Morning & Afternoon sessions
630 students & 39 teachers
4) SK Bukit Damansara
Co-Ed, Morning session
1110 students & 67 teachers

Chinese type primary school
5) SJK(C) Kuen Cheng (1)
Co-Ed, Morning session
1099 students & 58 teachers

I am actually very hesitant about sending Evan to any of the government primary schools or Chinese type primary schools....
- outdated textbooks
- large classes
- overworked teachers
- if Chinese school..... system too rigid/exam-oriented/stressful/rote learning/spoon-feeding

Unless we are left with no other choice, then Evan will be forced to go to one of those schools above. Other considerations would be private school, international school or homeschool/unschool. Any input or suggestions would be most welcomed!

New Blender New Diet

Hubby and I are on a diet - heheh..... we are taking Herbalife products to reduce our weight and also to reduce body fat and visceral fat.
Bought a brand new Moulinex blender from Metrojaya during their preview sale recently as Metrojaya card members were entitled to FREE vouchers worth RM20.00. Yup! RM20.00 given FOC - all you need to do is just queue up and flash your Metrojaya card. The cash vouchers were valid for that one day only and applicable for purchase of items at regular price or less than 30% discount.

Puzzled

Marissa has been playing with her brother's puzzles lately and she enjoys them very much!

She loves doing this repeatedly - just like when she 'reads' a brand new book. Over and over again! She started off with a Dora & Boots 8-pc wooden frame tray puzzle, then progressed to this one photographed above : Mickey Mouse and she's also doing a Sesame Street 20-pc frame tray jigsaw puzzle.

Read my blog post about Evan and his puzzles here which was posted in Oct'07
